Timothy E. McGee

Tim McGee has been Chief Executive Officer of The Law Society of British Columbia since June 1, 2005.
Prior to Mr. McGee joining the Law Society, he was President of Bell TV, Canada’s largest provider of digital television. Previous roles include service as Chief Legal Officer of Bell Canada and Vice-President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of AT&T Canada Inc. Mr. McGee was called to the Ontario Bar in 1987 and began his legal career with the Toronto law firm now known as Torys LLP. He also served two years as Executive Assistant to BC’s Attorney General.
Born and raised in Victoria, Mr. McGee was educated at Harvard University and the University of Ottawa Law School. He has competed internationally for Harvard University in rowing.
With more than 10,000 members, the Law Society of BC is the governing body for the BC legal profession. The Law Society’s principal responsibility is to uphold and protect the public interest in the administration of justice and to set standards for the education, professional responsibility and competence of practising lawyers in the province.
