Retha Steinmann

Retha Steinmann is currently the Director of the Law Society of Namibia. She is also an admitted legal practitioner and is a member of the Law Society of Namibia since 2006.
Her past employment includes working for Old Mutual as Client Services Manager at Employee Benefits and Legal Advisor and prior to that Principal Legal Officer at the Ministry of Justice - Namibia, where she held the positions of Control Prosecutor and later as Magistrate. Before moving to Namibia she worked as a Prosecutor at the Department of Justice in South Africa.
Retha was involved in the Savanna Club, a friendships club between Namibian and South African ladies who supported various charitable courses and which club also established the Namibian Business Women of the Year Award, as a committee member and later as Chairlady.
She is also the Namibian country representative of the University of Pretoria’s (Tuks) Alumni. She received a Tuks Alumni Star Award during 2002 for meritorious service.
Retha is a member of the executive committee of the International Institute of Law Association Chief Executives (IILACE) since 2008, the same year that she hosted the conference of IILACE in Windhoek, Namibia.
She is also the recipient of the Law Society of England and Wales 2008-2009 Commonwealth Professional Fellowship.
